What: Belo Medical Group's Oxygeneo Facial

What it is: Also called Oxygen Facial, it’s a three-in-one therapy that “combines gentle exfoliation, natural skin oxygenation, and a deep facial rejuvenation.” According to Dra. Romina Cesa of Belo Medical Group, its main benefits include skin firming, cleansing, and brightening of the skin complexion.

Current condition:

Three days before I tried the Oxygen Facial, I was suffering from post-flight zits (including a super-sized one, tbh). You do know how long-haul flights can suck the moisture out of your skin and cause sudden breakouts, right? In my case, after spending an entire day at 30,000 feet above sea level, not even my favorite Korean sheet mask was able to help solve my newfound beauty woes. Apart from the fact that there was a noticeably annoying pimple that had become an attention magnet for people, my skin also felt rough and dehydrated. Needless to say, I was already in dire need of a facial.

How the treatment went:

I visited the newest clinic of Belo Medical Group, which is located at the recently opened S Maison mall along Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City. Before this session, my last facial was already roughly a year ago—because, as much as I’d love to, I don’t have a go-to dermatologist on speed dial. And since this was a rare occasion, the oxygen facial sounded perfect for me; it’s a three-in-one therapy that has basically everything I needed.

The Oxygeneo technology is comprised of three methods: (1) exfoliate; (2) infuse; and (3) oxygenate. As how a regular facial goes, it started with cleansing followed by a much-needed pricking—pimples and blackheads, be gone! What came next was exfoliation. Using what they call the “Capsugen tablet,” it targets the upper skin layer to remove the dead cells and to prepare it to receive the active nutrients. That’s where the infusion comes in; you can choose between NeoRevive™ for rejuvenation and anti-aging, or NeoBright™ for skin brightening and texture improvement (both in the form of a serum). And since I’m still on my 20s, I was given the latter. The final procedure involved an ultrasound treatment that aids in skin absorption, and then before I knew it, the attendant was already applying sunscreen on my face, reminding me to avoid direct exposure to sunlight. 

Conclusion:

I must say, the exfoliation part did sting a bit, although it was nothing close to painful. The entire treatment lasted for an hour and a half, which wasn’t bad at all considering it’s essentially a complete overhaul. Since the top layer of my skin underwent deep-level exfoliation, I still felt a mild sting whenever I washed my face the next day. There was also slight peeling, which was made more noticeable when I applied makeup. All these trifling issues, however, almost miraculously disappeared the day after that, with my skin feeling renewed and significantly smoother. There’s still a dark pimple mark I’m waiting on fading, which probably can’t be helped anytime soon, but I love how my pores now seem tighter even up-close.

The recommended frequency of treatment for the Oxygeneo facial is every four weeks (since deep exfoliation is involved and you'll need to give your skin plenty of time to rest in between). Compared to a regular facial, P6600 might seem like an impractical price point, but if you’re someone like me who rarely gets a facial, I’d say this will give you a bang for your hard-earned buck. In fact, I’m already considering booking my next session!
